It's now been 11 days since Gabriella came into our lives. My wife and I were talking about yesterday, and it is still so surreal to us.
For those of you that are experienced parents, you will know what I am talking about; for those that are expecting (and we have a lot of friends expecting) it will be very hard to explain the following until you are actually living it.
For the first 3-4 days; things got crazy...I mean real crazy! Our schedule followed very specific patterns: baby cries...baby needs dipper change, baby feeds, baby is handled to go back to sleep, baby cries again, baby sleeps.... 2-3 hours later baby cries...baby needs dipper change, baby feeds, baby is handled to go back to sleep, baby cries again, baby sleeps...
now repeat as needed and as often as 1 hour intervals...
Now, not all is this bad , Gabriella has started to give us 4-5 hours of sleep (something you will learn cherish); so I am thrilled to sleep 4 hours continuous; this is HUGE ! We have also started noticing the occasional smile on her face. When awake, she loves to look around and explore her surroundings; and we have learned that taking the stroller out seems to put her sleep.
I don't want to make this any longer so let's post some new pictures...
here is Gabby at 11 days old....
